Dear Community,
So, evidently there has been no update for quite some time, specifically since December 2010, for which we can only apologise to you, our fans for keeping you in the dark, however please let us explain.
We did previously plan and announce publically that the Dev Team would be having a winter break for a month, all due back by February to crack on as formerly. However, we hit a few brick walls with key members going inactive which ultimately prevented work being churned out.
As disclosed on the TA public forums, it is not so easy to run a Dev team like you would expect from a general business coupled with the fact working in adjacent to one another. Working on the same timezone alone would be a bonus, but these are challenges we the TA team have taken on and are still overcoming.
So, although things are not moving as quickly as we, including our fans would like - we are still getting things done. With each task ticked off, it's a step closer to public release.
Since the beginning of March, the productivity of the team has doubled with development being achieved in multiple areas simultaneously, which is in essence down to a shift around in our team structure.
- - TOP-Proto has resumed his previous position as Lead Coder, whilst still overseeing the development as a project lead but taking a back seat.
- aRny has stepped into the joint project management role, now focusing on the task delegating to steamline all teams together.
- pAldred has moved in as Art Director, bridging the gap from the project management team, Level Designers and our excellent modeling/texturing department.
TOP-Proto is enjoying the freedom to just nail down and get work done, this change has seen significant work been achieved in such little time. Already in the space of two weeks the Dev team have seen a few in-game videos showing our menus being fully coded and operational (controls, graphics, mouse settings and so on...) which previously were implemented but not functional.
Combined with our core game development, another vital aspect for internal testing, as well as releasing future public betas is the way we distribute and update Tactical Assault.
TOP-Proto & Macfrog have implemented a system which allows us to do this at a click of one button! We look forward to showing you this in the near future.
So all in all, things are going very smoothly and if it continues at this pace without any unexpected hurdles to cross, we will have a release by the end of this year!
Now brace yourselves, sit tight and sign back on Sunday evening as we plan on providing the community with a very nice news release.
Until then, Regards
Your TA Team
